MORREY SHIFMAN SPIRIT OF UNITED WAY AWARD
Neenah Paper
Neenah Paper, Inc. formally known as Fox River Paper Co., Urbana,
exhibits a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for The United Way
throughout the campaign season. This company shows their
strong support of United Way from the top down. The campaign
team is responsible for coordinating the campaign events and activities
through three work shifts. Despite the challenges of running
a campaign throughout three shifts, the campaign team encourages and
gets United Way support with broad employee participation. During their
campaign kick-off, they distribute their pledge cards and have raffle
drawings for various items donated by staff and their vendors. They
provide plenty of incentives to ensure employee participation.
Security National Bank
Security National Bank supports United Way in many ways throughout the
year. They support our Pacesetter initiative by running an
early campaign each year which helps set the bar for the rest of the
campaign. They co-sponsor our “United
Way’s Night at the Movies” in March. This
is an event where United Way thanks our Leadership donors in a way that
involves the whole family by inviting them to a night at the movies at
no cost to them. Security National Bank encourages their
employees to volunteer for United Way and many other non-profit
organizations as well.
This year Security National Bank ran their Pacesetter campaign August 2
– August 14. The campaign began with a breakfast at
the main office for all employees, where the two chairs, Michelle Buck
and Marsha Lyons, had skits prepared to get everyone excited about
giving to United Way. The other branches were given budgets
to do the same. Prizes were given throughout their campaign
for a variety of things, such as; first time donors, “early
birds” and donors who raised their gift 10% were entered into
separate drawings.

with a variance for the fencing that surrounds and protects the
playground.
SSA associates championed the project, were highly involved and
contributed greatly to the success of this project. Over 140
SSA associates worked in shifts during a period of six days, rain or
shine, in mid August to make this dream a reality. They were
further engaged through a “Name the Playground
