"Being a single parent is hard. Being a homeless single parent is harder. Being a homeless single dad with two children is even harder. And walking in to a homeless shelter, as a dad with two young children takes courage.
As soon as the family arrived, Caring Kitchen staff worked together as a team to network with agencies in our community. He received case management from the Veterans and a cash voucher for rent. Children First Council was involved because the family was in crisis. Caring Kitchen worked with a school social worker to assist the children with major dental issues.
After about a two-month stay at the shelter, the family was able to move into an apartment of their own. The Caring Kitchen provided tutoring, clothing, shoes, food, personal items, bedding and furniture.
We consider this family a true success story and wish them the best for years to come."
