"Blayton is new to New Carlisle Elementary this school year and was nominated for the Get Up and Go After School program by his teacher. On his application he wrote that he struggles with self image and confidence and would like to meet new friends outside of school. His goal for the program is to find a fitness activity that excites and encourages him to be more active. He also wants to learn healthy habits and try new healthy foods.
In the weeks that Blayton has participated in the program, he has had a great attitude and anxious to participate in all the activities. As the weeks have progressed, the staff has noticed Blayton reaching out to other students and socializing more. He especially enjoyed the Super Hero week and was extremely involved and encouraged his teammates. He was excited about the obstacle course and went above and beyond to help others.
A Wittenberg student intern writes, being able to instill confidence in the students and help them to find physical fitness activities they enjoy is a few of the many rewarding aspects of the Get Up and Go after school program. I find it rewarding to be able to spend time with kids like Blayton and have the opportunity to help them be more confident with themselves.
The staff is excited to see how Blayton will continue to grow, participate in fun fitness activities and create new friendships during the upcoming weeks of the program."
