As a United Way company campaigner, your job is vital to the success of this
year's campaign. Through your eyes, your fellow employees will see the value
of the many United Way-funded programs making a difference for people throughout
Clark, Champaign & Madison counties. This guide suggests effective ways
to ask for contributions.
Campaign Time Line and Check list:
2-3 months out:
- Evaluate past performances
- Consider a reasonable campaign goal. If you made goal the previous year, consider
raising your goal 5%.
- Start thinking about who you want on your campaign team.
1-3 months out:
- Talk to management to discuss the goal and their involvement.
- Select your campaign team and start putting together a game plan for
the up coming campaign.
- Make sure your team is prepared to talk about United Way by knowing facts
and figures. Know the affiliated agencies. Between you and your team, try to
talk to every employee individually.
- Plan activities to involve all employees. Make your campaign fun and enjoyable
by coming up with fundraisers, contests, parties and use incentives whenever
possible.
Fundraisers/Contests: Raise extra money above what the employees
pledge

Parties: Have fun and teach people about United Way

- Extra Vacation Days
1 month before:
- Make sure you have all the United Way materials you’ll need for every employee.

- Start sending out notices or hanging fliers to make sure everyone
is aware that the campaign is about to start.
- Schedule a speaker through the United Way office to come and speak
at one of your employee functions.
- Decide how you are going to get the material out to everyone.

- Keep everyone up to date on how the campaign is going.

Wrap Things Up:
- Make sure everyone has been thanked!
- Get with your campaign team and discuss how things went.
- Call the volunteer assigned to your company or the United Way office
to pick up all materials.
